2. What These Terms Cover

These terms apply to all pointing, repointing, and associated works we carry out for clients. By accepting our quote, you agree to these terms.

 See the refund policy solely in relation to the sale of lime-based products.

 

3. Quotes and Pricing

  • All quotes are valid upto the scheduled work start date (which will be expressed as a two week window, exact start date to be confirmed both one month, and two weeks before the start date).

  • Prices are based on the information available at the time of quoting.

  • If we discover issues that were not visible during the initial inspection (e.g., hidden damage, loose brickwork, structural issues), we will discuss any extra costs before continuing.

  • All prices are inclusive of VAT: Gladstone Pointing will not undertake work without paying relevant taxes. Please do not suggest it to us

 

4. What We Need From You

To carry out the work safely and efficiently, you agree to:

  • Provide clear access to the work area

  • Provide a water supply for use by a hose pipe or pay additionally for Gladstone Pointing to transport water and associated equipment to the job.

  • Ensure the site is safe and free from hazards (including space for any scaffolding).

  • Do not climb on any scaffolding - this is dangerous, particularly for children,

  • Confirm any required permissions (e.g., landlord approval, listed building consent)

  • Accept sackcloth will be put over newly pointed mortar for at least three days

If access is restricted or delayed, we may charge for lost time.

5. Our Work

We will:

  • Carry out the work with reasonable skill and care

  • Use suitable materials for the job (including fine lime putty and fine sand)

  • Have appropriate insurance in place for any damage or injury 

  • Follow agreed specifications

  • Keep the site tidy and remove waste each day. 

Pointing work is affected by weather (heavy rain, very hot direct sun or if the temperature is likely to dip below 5 degrees Celsius within three days) . We may need to delay or reschedule work to ensure proper curing and a good finish. 

 

6. Scaffolding and Access Equipment

  • If scaffolding or access equipment is required, it will be specified whether this will be included in the quote or listed separately.

  • Scaffolding will be used for all work higher than 2.5m 

  • If conditions change and additional scaffolding is needed, we will inform you of any extra cost.

  • Scaffolding remains the property of the supplier and must not be altered by anyone other than them, and must not be used by anyone other than Gladstone Pointing Limited or the appointed scaffolding contractor.

 

7. Payment Terms

  • A deposit of 5% will be required two weeks before work is confirmed to begin.

  • Invoices will be provided weekly on Wednesdays during the work in proportion to the work done. Invoices must be paid by midnight on the following Sunday

  • Late payments will mean the work stops until the payment is made.

  • Materials remain our property until paid for in full.

 

8. Changes and Additional Work

If you request changes or extra work, we will provide a revised price.
No additional work will be carried out without your approval.

 

9. Delays

We are not responsible for delays caused by:

  • Severe weather (described above)

  • Supply shortages

  • Access restrictions

  • Other contractors on site

  • Issues outside our control

We will keep you informed of any delays.

 

10. Quality and Guarantees

We check all work 3 weeks after it has been done as occasionally small holes/cracks may appear in new mortar. We will ensure a good finish at this point. The final 10% will become payable at this point.

 

If you have any concerns about the work we do within 5 years then we will come and look at it and make any necessary repairs or improvements.

 

We guarantee our workmanship for 5 years from the completion date.
This guarantee does not cover:

  • Natural weathering

  • Movement in the building

  • Damage caused by others

  • Lack of maintenance

 

Health & Safety

We follow all relevant health and safety regulations.
You agree to keep the site safe for our workers and notify us of any risks.

 

12. Cancellation

If you cancel the work after accepting the quote:

  • You will be charged for any work already completed

  • If scaffolding has been erected, you will be responsible for those costs

  • Please inform Gladstone Pointing Limited of any changes as soon as you are able.

 

13. Liability

We are not liable for:

  • Pre‑existing damage

  • Structural issues uncovered during the work

  • Damage caused by poor existing brickwork or mortar

  • Indirect or consequential losses

 

Our total liability is limited to the value of the contract.

 

14. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any part of our service, contact us as soon as possible.
We will work with you to resolve the issue quickly and fairly.

 

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
